A memory of Cleethorpes beach for many people is collecting the oyster shells some really large and old ones down to perfect little oysters.
We have been searching for some time to find a Cleethorpes oyster small enough and with a fab shape to cast as a memory of Cleethorpes Beach.
Well we found one and hope you like our little memory :)
Hand cast in our beachside gallery workshop this amazing Oyster shell looks fab in solid sterling silver :) The shell measures approx. 34mm x 26mm inc ring bail and can be set on a belcher or snake chain with a choice of lengths
In Cleethorpes, recorded tradesmen listed in the town are Fisherman & Oyster Dealers.
The fishermen would cultivate them in beds off the coast. The oyster beds covered over 300 acres of the foreshore and were approximately a mile from the seafront opposite Brighton St Slipway, meaning large amounts of the oysters could be seen at low tide.
